To answer your reply - I would group the luddites and anti-futurists together. I'm not sure if they relate to some of what I'm thinking I'm finding . . . and i've been trying to show various people. What I'd like to say about the luddites/anti-futurists is some other things I've been noticing - people that are angry at the government using tax payer money to fund research into the propellantless EM Drive, which was suppose to defy known physics, and I've seen people "angry" at SpaceX and genetics research, saying, "they are only for rich people." True on the SpaceX, not so true on the genetics. Or, at least it gets less expensive with time. I've seen this elsewhere as well. I would argue that the Capital building riots was filled by these types of people, with this type of thinking. But, the third group of people, the naysayers, I would say do fit the bill.
A George Church, who tries to research genetics and ending aging, talked about "deniers". Moon landing deniers, flat-earthers. I actually made a blog post showing his deniers as more evidence for, as already indicated, I've started to call "the dark side of the force."
Cell phones were also only for rich people. Now even the poor have them, because they're cheaper and more functional, reliable, smaller, faster, etc. They put the world's knowledge at our fingertips. Pursuing new technologies is worthwhile because it can lead to truly amazing things.
Meanwhile, "God" does nothing!
