How a synapse stays stable when its proteins are renewed

This may not sound interesting, but if we are to eventually replace our vulnerable protein human brains with tougher, more resilient materials, this process may hold the answer to how to do so without destroying the original person and having a materially superior copy live on in his/her stead.
