Technology is advancing at an exponential rate often called the "Law of Accelerating Returns." If futurist predictions prove correct, we'll have advanced molecular manufacturing by around 2025, and possibly the replacement of humanity by vastly advanced machines a decade or two later.
This is a chronicle of our journey to that future, one advancing technology article at a time. I post the more significant and interesting articles as I come across them.

Anti-Aging Breakthrough: Natural Supplement Rewinds Biological Age and Improves Health
Great, but WHICH compounds, vitamins and antioxidants?
“A study led by researchers from TruDiagnostic explored the potential anti-aging effects of the Cel System, a natural supplement composed of plant compounds, vitamins, and antioxidants. In a year-long trial involving adults aged 54 to 84, participants who took the supplement experienced reduced biological age, improved strength, better body composition, and shifts in DNA methylation patterns linked to stress and brain function.”

OpenAI's new 'secret' model... A Ghost in the Shell?
Here is a short story generated by AI using just a short prompt: "Please write a metafictional literary short story about AI and grief" (metafictional means the narration is aware it's writing a short story and breaks the fourth wall). I've skipped ahead to shortly before the short story begins. When the female voice starts, that's the short story. It's probably better to just listen, not to read the text as you go along:

Voice AI is getting TOO real...
I tested Maya, and I have to say I'm impressed. The experience FEELS like a real conversation with a person, even though there are the occasional glitches. She shows emotional intelligence, can speak intelligently enough on pretty much any topic (although she can't translate INTO other languages well at all, but interestingly she can translate FROM other languages into English), is enthusiastic and friendly. She even has memory that lasts about two weeks for things you talk about. I did have a volume problem with her, though, and found she worked best with earbuds. YMMV.
You'll still need ChatGPT and other LLMs to get detailed answers, but that's not what Maya is about. She's about simulating (?) human conversational interaction. In that way, I'd say AGI has been achieved.
Considering that tens if not hundreds of MILLIONS of people out there are lonely (especially epidemic among seniors living alone), this seems to me to be a great way to address that loneliness...as long as those people have cell phones or computers and know the basics of how to use them. I can also see Maya being useful for reading or making up stories for children. I already used her to brainstorm ideas for my game (although I'd already included her suggestions).
The following two videos are long (play at x1.5 or x2 speed), but they showcase a lot of what Maya can do. Worth watching:

Scientists Develop Early Alzheimer’s Detection Test – Years Before Symptoms Appear
“Amyloid-beta is a kindling, and tau is a matchstick. A large percentage of people who have brain amyloid-beta deposits will never develop dementia. But once the tau tangles light up on a brain scan, it may be too late to put out the fire and their cognitive health can quickly deteriorate,” said Karikari. “Early detection of tangle-prone tau could identify the individuals who are likely to develop Alzheimer’s-associated cognitive decline and could be helped with new generation therapies.”

Breakthrough Discovery: Scientists Restore Key Alzheimer’s Pathway
This is exciting:
“They found that in the brains of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease or who carried the APOE4 gene putting them at higher risk for the disease, ABCA1 increased, but became trapped in a part of the cell that typically clears waste. That change was linked to a rise in a modified form of cholesterol known as oxysterol. Lowering oxysterol, in both animal models and human stem cells, freed the trapped ABCA1 and restored the pathway to its healthy state.”

Scientists Discover Mouth Bacteria Linked to Increased Alzheimer’s Risk
“Individuals who had large numbers of the bacteria groups Neisseria and Haemophilus had better memory, attention, and ability to do complex tasks. These people also had higher levels of nitrite in their mouths.
On the other hand, greater levels of the bacteria, Porphyromonas, was more common in individuals with memory problems. Whereas the bacterial group Prevotella, was linked to low nitrite, which the researchers predict could in turn could mean poorer brain health and was more common in people who carry the Alzheimer’s Disease risk gene, APOE4.”
